Winter in Our Backyard

It's cold, and wet, and we have only had about 2 feet of snow this winter...but it is still beautiful at our house :)

I know it sounds crazy, but I'm praying for snow at my house in February!

The snow is so pretty, and the rain only makes MUD...at my house, with all of the boys, and animals...it is truly yucky!

Snow....Snow....Snow....Snow....Snow!

~Life Lessons~

Ok, so far 2010 has given us some great lessons that I must share! Some of you have already heard about our incidents...but some of you have not :)

• Don't put pins in your mouth while sewing...although I am now betting that the chances of my swallowing more than one in my lifetime have better odds than my not continuing the lifelong habit...I did learn that if you do it, there is a consequence...a large hospital bill, even after insurance, and a bit of recovery time.

• Don't pour gas into a carburetor of a running truck...again, a lesson I'm sure we should already know :) but...sometimes the truck backfires in the carburetor and your hand gets burnt...ouch is an understatement!

• HDTV...as nice as it is, it changes the "reality" of TV...all of the actors and actresses look really allot older in hi-def...which in turn makes me feel older...and football is a whole new sport when you can see the dimples on the football :)

• Do spend time with your family and children...we have been playing games in the evenings...like Yatzee and Sorry, and we all have enjoyed our time as a family...and the kids are faster at adding the dice than I am :)

~Enjoy your life...you only get one, make it the best you can with the time you have :)

The tradition of Family Pictures...YIKES!  It is amazing how hard it is to get everyone to look at the camera, and smile, all at the same time.

Christmas Memories

I know this looks crazy messy, but we had so much fun! Grandma & PaPa live by the new V&T Railroad Track that goes from Carson City to Virginia City...So the kids all painted Trains for their Christmas Tree! A Fun Day for All!

I'm so Thankful for My Family!!

We had a VERY nice Thanksgiving!!  Mom and Dad came up from Carson City on Wednesday...they drove all day...to spend the weekend with us. 

We ate (all day) and played games around the table. 

 All of the Kids came out for dinner, it was wonderful!

 Friday we decorated the Christmas tree and painted ornaments for Gramma & PaPa's tree.

~A Day in the Life~

Getting ready for Winter is always a long but fun adventure at our house :)
The new baby chickens are all snuggled in for the winter months...What happens when you have a pack of Coyotes eat your 35 free range birds in late August...

Flopsy is not really in love with the idea of being in the same pen as the remaining cows and the sheep, but he does think that Jayden is fun to play with...She bossed us around quite a bit when we were finishing the new sheep shelter this past weekend :)

She is such a good little girl...she knows what she wants already and had Grandpa and Grandma wrapped snuggly around her finger!!

I left this last photo bigger...so you can appreciate how tough Thunder is to protect all of us from the big bad Moose Family that visits us each morning. This is as close as he got, Momma Moose turned on him and now he acts super tough from the back portch when they come through the yard.

A Day at the Park

We had so much fun on Saturday...Well, once we got to the park anyway.  We ran errands first; then took the kids to play at Fort Sherman Park, down by the lake, their favorite park.
